Iran began its counterattack on Israel on Saturday night, launching dozens of drones, in response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to bomb Tehran’s consulate in Syria earlier this month that guaranteed a retaliatory strike.
This was the first time that Iran had ever directly attacked Israel but the attack seemed short-lived. Al Arabiya posted on X: “Iran’s mission to the UN says that the Iranian missile and drone attacks against were in response to the strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus and adds that “the matter can be concluded.”
Iran’s IRGC confirmed that it launched “dozens of missiles & drone” against Israeli targets in response to the consulate attack.
IDF Spokesperson Daniel Hagari confirmed the report and said dozens of drones were airborne from Iran toward Israel, according to The Jerusalem Post.
The IDF posted on X: “Iran launched UAVs from within its territory toward Israel a short while ago. The IDF is on high alert and is constantly monitoring the operational situation. The IDF Aerial Defense Array is on high alert, along with IAF fighter jets and Israeli Navy vessels that are on a defense mission in Israeli air and naval space. The IDF is monitoring all targets.”
The warmongers in Washington have been posting that they “stand with Israel.”
PROFESSOR: ISRAEL WANTS WAR BETWEEN U.S. AND IRAN
RUBIO PREPARES AMERICANS FOR WAR
Axios reported that Iran has used dozens of drones in the attack that will take hours to arrive in Israel.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning last week and said only Israel is allowed to kill who it wants and inflict damage on other countries after its high-profile attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria earlier this month.
Netanyahu spoke about the possibility of Iran or its proxies responding to the strike and said, “Iran has been acting against us for years—directly and via proxies. And, therefore, Israel acts against Iran and its proxies—defensively and offensively.”
He continued, “We will know how to defend ourselves, and we will act according to the simple principle: that those who harm us or plan to harm us, we will harm them.”
Professor Norman Finkelstein said Israel has what is called its deterrence capacity in the region, which is a scale of how much fear it provokes in its regional enemies, and that capacity was dramatically decreased after the Hamas attack on 7 October. Israel is now working to restore its fear levels in the region.
TREND FORECAST: As we used to say in The Bronx: Payback’s a bitch. Iran will pay back Israel for its attack on the consulate in a major way, which will, in turn, ramp up war in the Middle East.
And as we had long forecast, when Israel confronts Iran militarily and Iran responds, Brent crude oil will spike to above $130 per barrel which will in turn crash equity markets and economies.
That trend is now in the making as Brent Crude is up some $20 per barrel from its recent low, hitting nearly $92 a barrel last week.
Making a bad situation worse, the greater the military conflict between Iran and Israel escalates, the more WWIII ramps up and the greater the danger of nuclear warfare.
Indeed, as we have noted, when (not if) Israel faces defeat from Arab nations and Iran, there is fear that they will ignite the Samson Option which equals nuclear destruction.
