Trump's administration has been confusing itself on what would be permissible under a new deal
U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday that Iran “sort of” agreed to a nuke deal, but Tehran rejected the report, stating that it has yet to even receive a proposal.
Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian foreign minister, rejected Trump’s claim that a deal is near and said Tehran has “not received any written proposal from the United States, whether directly or indirectly,” IRNA reported.

Steve Witkoff, his special envoy, said earlier that the U.S. would accept low levels of enrichment inside the country, but has since changed his tune and told Breitbart that any enrichment program would be a red line.
Witkoff earlier praised his indirect meetings with Iran and indicated last month that Washington would be willing to accept a deal that allows Iran some enrichment. He mentioned 3.67 percent. (Highly enriched uranium is considered weapons-grade at 90 percent.)
That all changed when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he would only accept a “Libya-style agreement,” where Tehran willingly destroys its nuclear facilities under American supervision.
