Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the former comedian who dodged the draft four times and once pretended to play the piano with his penis before becoming Time’s Person of the Year, cracked a joke about the deaths of Russian troops during the Ukraine War.
He joined David Letterman’s “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction,” and said, “Two Jewish guys from Odesa meet up One asks the other: ‘So what’s the situation? What are people saying?”
“And he goes, ‘What are people saying? They are saying it’s a war.’”
“What kind of war?”
“Russia is fighting NATO.”
“Are you serious?”
“Yes, yes. Russia is fighting NATO.”
“So how’s it going?”
“Well, 70,000 Russian soldiers are dead. The missile stockpile has almost been depleted. A lot of equipment is damaged, blown up.”
“And what about NATO?”
“What about NATO? NATO hasn’t even arrived yet.”
The joke was first reported by The Times of Israel, which pointed out that Zelensky is Jewish.
Supporters of Zelensky will, no doubt, say he is justified with making the comment since his country has suffered so much destruction at the hands of the Russian, but others, who would like to see a peaceful resolution, will question why he would seek to further provoke Russia.
There could be convergence of thought here and you certainly deserve more reader commentary.
This may well interest you G.C.
Expressed further under the Decline of The West, vectored via that failed, longest of the long LongShots, this engineered US-NATO-UK Ukrainian Proxy War over the lives of the poor Ukrainian people to weaken Russia, tip out its government and possess its considerable resources.
Judgment shall be by outcomes. Thus far, it is the EU and NATO that will disintegrate. Paradoxically, the present winners are simultaneously the United States and Russia. Those in the way of superpower aspirations invariably are ground up in the geo-political machinery.
Discussed here in lengthy, abstruse and eclectic prose across several essays that will leave the reader visibly aged, yet possibly far wiser although admittedly that is entirely speculative . . . https://les7eb.substack.com
