Education Dept. Official Resigns, Says Biden Admin. Doesn't Value Human Life Equally

Tariq Habash, a senior Biden education adviser who is Palestinian-American, resigned on Thursday and wrote in his resignation letter that he “cannot stay silent as this administration turns a blind eye to the atrocities committed against innocent Palestinian lives.”

The letter to Education Secretary Miguel Cardona was dated 3 January and read, in part: “It should go without saying that all violence against innocent people is horrific. I mourn each and every loss, Israeli and Palestinian. But I cannot represent an administration that does not value all human life equally.”
Habash was a policy adviser in the department’s Office of Planning, Evaluation and Policy Development, Politico reported. He was the department’s only Palestinian American political appointee, The New York Times reported.
Gaza’s health ministry said Wednesday that at least 22,185 Palestinians have been killed in the coastal enclave and thousands are trapped under rubble. About 70 percent of those killed are reported to be women and children.
