Ukraine Claims Russia Fired First ICBM of the War
Ukraine is desperate to drag NATO into the war and has an administration in Washington that hates Russia so much, it may work.
Ukrainian air defense forces announced Thursday that Russia fired off a nuclear-capable Intercontinental Ballistic Missile for the first time in an attack on Dnipro, just a day after Ukraine fired its first salvo of U.S.-provided ATACMS into Russia following U.S. President Joe Biden’s approval.
The Financial Times reported that the ICBM did not carry a nuclear warhead. Russia fired off seven Kh-101 cruise missiles as part of the attack.
But there were some doubts about Kyiv’s claim.
The New York Times, citing several Western officials, reported that the missile was more likely an intermediate-range missile that has a shorter range.

Ukraine tried to rattle the West after Russia’s alleged use of the weapon, and posted on X: “Today, there was used a new russian missile. All its characteristics—speed, altitude—align with those of an intercontinental ballistic missile. An investigation is currently underway. Clearly, Putin is using Ukraine as a testing ground.”
The Trends Journal has long said that Ukraine cannot defeat Russia on the battlefield and will do all it can to get the West to intervene. We’ve warned that Ukraine can try and sell a false flag attack to achieve its aims.
The war had been unfolding in a manner as though that false flag would come in the form of an attack on a nuclear base either in Ukraine or in Russia, or a major escalatory strike by Ukraine on a major Russian city.
Analysts have said Biden’s decision to give Ukraine the green light to use ATACMS to strike deep into Russia will not serve any military purpose other than to spark an escalation by Moscow.
These missiles—provided by the U.S., U.K., and France — were the centerpiece of this so-called “Victory Plan,” which received lukewarm reactions in the West.
As of 21 October, the U.S. has provided Ukraine with $64.1 billion in military assistance, which included about $31.7 billion from stockpiles. The Biden administration has said it plans to pump as much money and weapons into Ukraine as possible before leaving office.
Bloomberg News obtained a letter that showed the Biden administration’s plan to cancel $4.65 billion in debt owed by Ukraine.
Canceling the debt, “thereby helping Ukraine prevail, is in the national interest of the United States and its EU, G7+, and NATO partners,” the 18 November letter read, according to Stars and Stripes.
