Financial Times Blasts West’s 'Shameful Silence' on Gaza
The paper wrote: The global tumult triggered by Trump has already distracted attention from the catastrophe in Gaza
Even the Financial Times has seen enough of the Trump administration-backed Israel genocide in Gaza and published an editorial accusing the West of essentially turning a blind eye to Israel’s punishment campaign inside the enclave for the past 19 months.
The paper ran an editorial titled, “The West’s Shameful Silence on Gaza,” just after top Israelis are no longer hiding the fact that they plan on totally destroying the enclave and ethnically cleansing it of Palestinians.

The FT noted that even pro-Israel Donald Trump admitted Sunday that Gazans are starving, but, “so far, the U.S. president has only emboldened [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu.”
The paper went on:
Trump will put the onus on Hamas when speaking to his Gulf hosts. The group’s murderous October 7 attack is what triggered the Israeli offensive. Gulf states agree that its continued stranglehold on Gaza is a factor prolonging the war. But they must stand up to Trump and convince him to pressure Netanyahu to end the killing, lift the siege and return to talks.
The global tumult triggered by Trump has already distracted attention from the catastrophe in Gaza. Yet the longer it goes on, the more those who remain silent or cowed from speaking out will be complicit.
The Israeli military killed at least 52,615 Gazans and injured at least 118,752 since the start of the genocide after the Hamas attack on 7 October 2023. Health officials in Gaza say 11,000 people are missing.
Israel, with the U.S.’s support, has ramped up the genocide since the ceasefire deal with Hamas collapsed on 18 March, killing at least 2,459 and injuring 6,569. About 420,000 have been displaced since March—most of whom have already been displaced. Israel has identified 70 percent of Gaza as ‘no-go’ areas.
Israeli authorities, on 2 March, announced a siege, “no longer allowing humanitarian aid to enter the Gaza Strip, including fuel. No supplies—humanitarian or commercial—have entered since,” UNRWA said in a statement.
The UN announced that 91 percent of the population is now facing some level of food insecurity, most at levels considered “emergency” and “catastrophic.”
Gaza’s Government Media Office also announced that more than 3,500 Gazan children—under the age of five—face “imminent death by starvation.”
“Under this systematic blockade, more than 3,500 children under the age of five face imminent death by starvation, while approximately 290,000 children are on the brink of death,” the statement read, according to an Al Jazeera translation. “At a time when 1.1 million children daily lack the minimum nutritional requirements for survival, this crime is being perpetrated by the ‘Israeli’ occupation using starvation as a weapon, amid shameful international silence.”
Bezalel Smotrich, the Israeli finance minister, told reporters on Tuesday that Gaza should be completely destroyed and its population should be moved to a third country.
“The Gazan citizens will be concentrated in the south. They will be totally despairing, understanding that there is no hope and nothing to look for in Gaza, and will be looking for relocation to begin a new life in other places,” he said, according to The Times of Israel.
