Finkelstein Mocks NYT Report on Gaza: Israel is Truly a Democracy, Every Jew Gets to Commit Genocide

Gaza is a wasteland, and a New York Times reporter managed to write a "cheery" news article about women and a trans soldier fighting for the cause.

Norman Finkelstein, the author and Palestine scholar, mocked a New York Times report on X titled, “Israeli Women Fight on Frontline in Gaza, A First.”

The report details how Israeli women have performed military duties on the front lines in Gaza. Isabel Kershner, the reporter, noted that the deployment is a historic first.

She wrote that the “question of women serving at the front pitted ultraconservative rabbis and religiously observant soldiers against feminists, secularists and critics of the country’s traditionally macho culture. Now, that debate is effectively over.”

Finkelstein mocked the “cheery news” out of the Gaza wasteland, where 24,000 have been killed by Israelis, mainly women and children.

“Kershner reports that female soldiers now get to kill women and children in Gaza and that – brace yourself! – this novelty has won the ‘respect’ of ‘Druze and Bedouin Muslim men,’” he posted. “And then Kershner throws in this inspirational tidbit: ‘at least one transgender soldier has fought on the front in Gaza.’ Truly, Israel is a democracy: every Jew gets to commit genocide. Let’s hope and pray that the day is not long in coming when female Israelis cross that ultimate threshold of equality: they, too, can pull the plug on incubators.”
