President Joe Biden approved massive airstrikes against Yemen on Thursday in retaliation over Houthi attacks on civilian vessels in the Red Sea in an effort to get Israel to stop its U.S.-funded genocide in Gaza.
Biden said the coalition included the UK, Australia, Bahrain, Canada, and the Netherlands.
“These strikes are in direct response to unprecedented Houthi attacks against international maritime vessels in the Red Sea — including the use of anti-ship ballistic missiles for the first time in history,” he said.
Yemen is one of the poorest countries on earth and the Iranian-backed Houthis control much of the country’s northern region. Houthi leaders said they will continue to carry out attacks against ships with ties to Israel and consider themselves part of the “axis of resistance.”
Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree, the Houthi military spokesman, said in a statement obtained by the Associated Press last month that the country’s armed forces will “continue to prevent all ships heading to Israeli ports from navigating in the (Red Sea) until they bring in the food and medicine that our steadfast brothers in the Gaza Strip need.”
The Middle East Eye reported: Explosions were reported in several cities across the war-ravaged country, including the capital Sanaa, the western port city of Hodeidah, the Houthi stronghold of Saada and the south-western city of Dhamar.
The report noted that earlier in the day, Houthi leader Abdel Malik al-Houthi promised a “big” response to the U.S. and its allies took military action.
“Any American attack will not remain without a response. The response will be greater than the attack that was carried out with 20 drones and a number of missiles,” he said. “We are more determined to target ships linked to Israel, and we will not back down from that.”
Al Jazeera posted comments from Iran, Hezbollah, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad:
IRAN: “These attacks are happening in an effort to extend the full support of the US and UK in approximately the past 100 days for the war crimes of the Zionist regime against the Palestinian people and the besieged citizens of Gaza.”
HEZBOLLAH: “The American aggression confirms once again that the US is a full partner in the tragedies and massacres committed by the Zionist enemy in Gaza and the region.”
PALESTINIAN ISLAMIC JIHAD: “This aggression confirms that the American administration is waging a war of genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza. We call on the people of the Arab and Islamic nation to take action in rejection of the aggression against Yemen, which rose up in defense of Gaza and the holy places of Muslims in Palestine.”
Tomer Bar, the Israeli Air Force commander, told reporters in November that Israel had attack plans for Yemen after the 7 October Hamas attack. The U.S. is no stranger to destroying Yemen—alas through its own “proxies” in the region. The Biden administration, in 2022, was a major arms dealer for Saudi Arabia and UAE to continue their bombings.
Saudi Arabia and the Houthis agreed to a peace deal, but the war ravaged the country and any peace would be fragile. Biden, who served as vice president under Barack Obama when the war started, has strongly supported the Saudi-led war.
Fallout
Russia called for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council after the strikes, Reuters reported.
Justin Amish, the former Palestinian-American member of Congress, posted on X:
If President Biden had enough time to form a multinational coalition to plan and conduct strikes in Yemen, then he had enough time to seek and obtain an authorization from Congress as our Constitution requires. Without this authorization, any nondefensive military action is unconstitutional and unlawful. And we know from the White House’s own statement that the U.S. strikes recently launched were nondefensive. The strikes were warned about well in advance and intended to deter, not to stop an incoming attack. Nobody should confuse offensive military action to deter expected future Houthi attacks on shipping lanes with defensive military action to protect the United States and its people from imminent harm.
TRENDPOST: Protests have already broken out in New York City’s Times Square and in front of the White House. Protestors in Times Square New York City were chanting “U.S., UK go to hell!”
The Biden White House somehow managed to make a bad situation much worse.
From Europe to Asia to the Middle East, more war is on the near horizon and WWIII will become “official” this year.
U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson told Fox News last year that there is a new “Axis of Evil” that includes Russia, China, and Iran.
It is fitting that Johnson used the George W. Bush term to describe the U.S.’s war on terror that cost trillions in national treasure and millions of deaths.
Neocons continue to unite in Washington despite the decades of military disasters and no victory since WWII.
James W. Carden, a former adviser to the State Department, pointed to Harvard University’s Stephen Walt who once said, “Being a Neocon Means Never Having to Say You’re Sorry.” He said Washington’s “legacy media” companies perpetuate these policies and essentially function as “the permanent bureaucracy’s echo chamber.”
Again, as Gerald Celente notes, “When all else fails, they take you to war.” With Biden coming up for re-election and being down in the polls, as with Netanyahu, they will do all they can to stay in office by ramping up the wars and manipulating the public for their benefit.
Israel did 9/11 and killed USA President Kennedy in 1963. Israel will not exist in 5 years.
All to distract the world while the international court is going on accusing Israel of genocide.
