U.S. President Joe Biden announced today that the Pentagon will provide Ukrainian forces 31 M1 Abrams tanks after Germany announced it would send Kyiv its own Leopard 2 tanks — which is further evidence that this is no proxy war in Ukraine…it is WWIII.
“These tanks are further evidence of our enduring, unflagging commitment to Ukraine and our confidence in the skill of Ukrainian forces,” Biden said. Behind him stood Secretary of State Antony Blinken, an Clinton holdover who pimps his military connections in the “private sector” in companies like WestExec and Pine Island Capital, and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, who got wealthy sitting on Raytheon’s board.
Biden’s comment came after Olaf Scholz, the German chancellor, who Western war hawks have accused of being too thoughtful in his support for Ukraine while avoiding direct war with Russia, decided to approve the shipment of its Leopard 2 tanks to Kyiv.
Scholz has approved enough armored vehicles to equip a tank company, RT, the Russian news outlet reported. The number is likely around 16 tanks.
Up until this point, Scholz has refused to approve Berlin’s prized Leopard 2 tanks to be sent into Ukraine, even though the U.K. confirmed on Saturday that it will send Ukraine its Challenger 2 tanks.
The approval is not surprising. Dmitry Kuleba, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and pitchman for more weapons, has described Germany as a trepidatious dance partner that ends up agreeing to a waltz by the end of the night.
“It’s always a similar pattern: first they say ‘no,’ then they fiercely defend their decision, only to say ‘yes,’ in the end,” he said. “We are still trying to understand why the German government is doing this to itself.”
Dietmar Nietan, a member of Scholz’s Social Democrats, said last week that Ukraine “has to win this war that was forced on it, for its own freedom and for ours.”
“And it will need additional battle tanks to do that. Coordination with our alliance partners is not trivial and it takes time. But it is necessary.”
Annalena Baerbock, German foreign minister, said Sunday that Berlin would not stand in the way if countries like Poland want to supply Ukraine with the Leopards. Baerbock said Poland has yet to ask for permission.
Ukraine has said it will need 300 Western tanks to win the war and force Russian troops out of the country.
Maria Zakharova, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, told reporters that Russia will consider these tanks “legitimate targets.”
Gerald Celente has long said we are led by madmen and madwomen. (See “U.S. MILITARY HEAD MILLEY CHANGES HIS TUNE AFTER CRITICIZED FOR CALLING FOR KYIV TO NEGOTIATE, NOW SAYS RUSSIA LOST” and “PUTIN DIGS IN, CALLS UKRAINE WAR A ‘LONG PROCESS,’ SAYS WEST USING UKRAINIANS AS CANNON FODDER.”)
Take Rep. Michael McCaul, the chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He said Sunday that the U.S. should provide Ukraine with “just one.”
“If we announced we were going to give Abrams tanks, just one … what I hear is that Germany is waiting for us to take the lead. Then they would put Leopard tanks in. And remember, there are about 10 countries that have Leopard tanks, but they need Germany to sign off,” the Texas Republican said.
