Germany’s Baerbock Celebrates Ukrainian Strikes Deep Inside Russia, Contradicts Scholz
Scholz showed last week just how far we are from peace, when he called peace advocates in his country “fallen angels from hell.”
Annalena Baerbock, Germany’s top diplomat who let slip that Europe is already at war with Russia, praised Ukraine for attacking targets deep inside Russia in an apparent effort to distract from Kyiv’s dismal counteroffensive.
“Russia has attacked Ukraine, and therefore Ukraine has a right enshrined in the UN Charter to defend its country, to defend its people,” Baerbock said, completely disregarding the West getting assurances from Ukraine that it will not use Western equipment to strike Russian territory.
“Russia has violated the prohibition of the use of force in the UN Charter. Russia is bombing civilian targets in Ukraine relentlessly, targeting grain silos, hospitals, and churches. Ukraine is defending itself within the framework of international law,” she said.
The Associated Press reported that Ukrainian saboteurs struck the Soltsy air base in the Novgorod on Saturday and the Shaikovka air base in the southwestern Kaluga region on Monday. The report noted that Ukraine vowed to bring the fight to the heart of Russia earlier this year.
Baerbock, a member of the Alliance 90/The Greens party, has been one of Germany’s top advocates for war with Russia. She told the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe earlier this year that it was “crucial” that countries are united and that there is no blame game because “we are fighting a war against Russia and not against each other.”
Maria Zakharova, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, seized on the remark and posted on Telegram that Baerbock proves that the West is waging a “premeditated war against Russia.”
Markus Soeder, the Bavarian prime minister, urged German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to “stop” Baerbock. He said her “thoughtless statements” are often “to the detriment of our country.”
Indeed, Scholz spoke about the conditions behind the weapons that NATO provides Ukraine in May, and said it is “very important for us that the weapons that we supply, and with which Ukraine can defend itself, are not used to attack Russian territory.”
TRENDPOST: As this week’s cover shows, the world is headed into WWIII. Scholz showed last week just how far we are from peace, when he called peace advocates in his country “fallen angels from hell.”
