Glenn Greenwald, the independent journalist, took to Twitter today to comment on Elon Musk’s interview with a BBC journalist that he said turned out to be the “perfect illustration of how scumbag reporters lie.”
Musk sat down with the BBC's tech correspondent James Clayton Tuesday night at Twitter headquarters in San Francisco. The conversation turned to hate speech on the platform.
Clayton said he noticed a rise in his For You feed, but admitted that he has not used his account in weeks and could not name a specific instance. He said an example of hate speech is when a user posts something slightly sexist or racist.
“This BBC hack claimed he's seen more hate on Twitter. When asked, he can't name a single example because he hasn't look[ed],” Greenwald posted. “After getting caught red-handed repeatedly lying, this BBC reporter finally pretends he has no view, is just repeating the claims of @ISDglobal that maligns Twitter as being more hateful.”
Greenwald was referring to the UK’s Institute for Strategic Dialogue, which describes itself as “a fiercely independent global organisation dedicated to powering solutions to extremism, hate and disinformation.”
Greenwald posted a chart that showed the main financial backers of ISD. (Below)
