Israel Likely Killed Food Workers on Purpose So it Can Continue to Starve Gazans 'Quietly': UN Official

Number of aid workers killed in the conflict reaches 196 – including more than 175 members of the UN.

Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur, posted on X Tuesday that Israel likely intentionally targeted the World Central Kitchen convoy so it can continue to starve Palestinians “quietly.”

“Knowing how Israel operates,my assessment is that Israeli forces intentionally killed WCK workers so that donors would pull out & civilians in Gaza could continue to be starved quietly. Israel knows Western countries & most Arab countries won't move a finger for the Palestinians,” she posted.

António Guteres, the head of the UN, posted on X: “The devastating Israeli airstrikes that killed WCKitchen personnel yesterday bring the number of aid workers killed in this conflict to 196 – including more than 175 members of our own UN staff.”

Seven aid workers were killed in the strike.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the incident a “tragic case of our forces unintentionally hitting innocent people.”

Albanese presented a report called “Anatomy of a Genocide” a last week and said “there are clear indications that Israel has violated three of the five acts listed under the UN Genocide Convention in its war on Gaza,” according to Al Jazeera.

This prompted the U.S. State Department to call her antisemitic for criticizing the country’s brutal treatment of Palestinians.

Albanese is no longer allowed in Israel after comments she made about the motivation behind Hamas’s 7 October attack.

Israel and its advocates in the Western media have tried to portray the attack that killed 1,200 as unprovoked and an example of why the Israelis need to keep their boots on the necks of Palestinians. But some have compared the attack as nothing short of a prison break.

“The victims of 7/10 were not killed because of their Judaism, but in response to Israel’s oppression,” she said in an X post, according to The Times of Israel.

Meanwhile, the U.S. continues to be fully behind the Gaza genocide.

Last month, Matt Miller, a U.S. State Department spokesman, said that Washington has not found Israel to be in violation of international humanitarian law as it carries out its genocide in Gaza. 

Lying outright, Miller said Israel has followed international law from its conduct of the war and the provision of humanitarian assistance.

Washington took an unusual step and, last month, did not block a UN ceasefire resolution, which drew a swift rebuke from Netanyahu’s office that said the decision to abstain from the vote was “a clear retreat from the consistent U.S. position in the Security Council since the beginning of the war,” and one that “gives Hamas hope that international pressure will allow them to get a ceasefire without releasing our hostages.”

But the White House responded Monday to Israel’s temper tantrum by admitting that the ceasefire resolution was complete bullshit anyway, so it was unclear why Netanyahu was losing his cool.

“It seems like the Prime Minister’s Office is choosing to create a perception of daylight here when they don’t need to do that,” John Kirby, the White House National Security Council spokesman, told reporters. “We’re kind of perplexed by this. It’s a non-binding resolution, so there’s no impact at all on Israel’s ability to continue to go after Hamas.”
