Israeli Attack on Iran 'Public Relations Ballet,' May be 'Happiest' Outcome

Israel carried out a retaliatory strike against Iran early Saturday and preliminary reports indicate that the attack was limited and merely an attempt by Tel Aviv to get favorable headlines in the West to appeal to pro-Israel Christian Zionists, according to experts.

Still, it achieved nothing and only proved that Tehran’s capabilities would be formidable in an all-out, conventional war, these experts said.

Andrei Martyanov, a military analyst, told the ‘Dialogue Works’ podcast, that if the preliminary evidence holds up, nothing fired by Israel penetrated Tehran, meaning the strike was nothing more than “PR ballet.”

He noted a Jerusalem Post headline that read: “Over 100 Planes Were Involved in the 2,000 km Attack, Including the Cutting-Edge F-35.”

Martyanov said these headlines will play to the “brainwashed people, especially among Christian Zionists in the United States.”

The pro-Zionist Jerusalem Post reported that the IDF conducted strikes aimed at military installations across Iran and the operation was titled: “Days of Repentance,” indicating that there would be more than one strike.

Axios reported that Tel Aviv warned the Iranians about the pre-dawn strike on Saturday. The strike reportedly came in three waves.

“The Israelis made it clear to the Iranians in advance what they are going to attack in general and what they are not going to attack,” one source told the news outlet.

Larry C. Johnson, the former CIA analyst, told “Dialogue Works” that Israel announced with “great fanfare” that it launched its retaliatory strikes and people took to social media to see the current situation in Tehran, but there seemed to be nothing. Some eyewitnesses reported hearing explosions, which he said turned out to be Russian and Iranian air defenses being fired.

Johnson said video emerged that seemed to show Israeli ballistic missiles being picked off over Tehran.

“So what happened? Israel’s arrogant enough to think it could penetrate Iranian airspace, and if these initial reports are true, and I put the caveat at ‘if,’ but it certainly appears that Russia helped Iran prepare for this, that the Russian air defense systems worked spectacularly, that the Iranian air defense system works, and it looked like they shot down most, if not all of the” Israeli missiles.

“If that turns out to be the fact, I bet that Russia’s going to put its hands around Iran’s shoulder and say, ‘OK, big guy….you’ve defeated the Israelis. You don’t need to strike back. You’ve shown them in the last 25 days you can penetrate them anytime you want, and you just showed them that they can’t touch you,” he said.

Johnson called this possibly the “happiest outcome.”

“Because if Iran comes out unscathed, they’re not going to have an incentive to launch more missiles and inflict significant damage on Israel,” he said.
