Israeli MP Supports South Africa's Genocide Case Against Israel in Gaza
Says it's his constitutional duty to support the case and not “a government whose members and its coalition are calling for ethnic cleansing and even actual genocide"
Ofer Cassif, a member of Israel’s (left wing) Hadash-Ta'al party in the Knesset, faced calls for his ouster after he lent his support behind South Africa’s case of genocide against Israel in the International Court of Justice.
Fellow lawmakers – from the coalition and opposition – called his endorsement tantamount to treason.
The Times of Israel noted that Cassif is the only Jewish member of the Arab-majority Hadash-Ta’al party. Cassif posted on X that it is his constitutional duty to support the case and not “a government whose members and its coalition are calling for ethnic cleansing and even actual genocide. They are the ones who harm the country and the people, they are the ones who led to South Africa’s appeal to The Hague, not me and my friends.”
