Israel's Most Powerful Man Repeats Call for Settlements in Gaza, Ethnic Cleansing
The extremist said Israel needs to build new settlements inside Gaza.
Itamar Ben Gvir, the extremist national security minister who can dissolve the government at any time, held a rally on Tuesday calling again for the “voluntary emigration” of Palestinians from Gaza, as Israeli forces work to make the enclave uninhabitable.
The Independence Day event in the town of Sderot, close to the Gaza border, included 50,000 people and was organized by the Nachala Settler Movement, which The Times of Israel noted has a “radical history of illegal settlement activity.”
“To end the problem, in order that the problem won’t come back, we need to do two things: one return to Gaza now! Return home! Return to our holy land!” Ben Gvir told the crowd. “And second, encourage emigration. Encourage the voluntary departure of Gaza’s residents…It is ethical! It is rational! It is right! It is the truth! It is the Torah and it is the only way! And yes, it is humane.”

Ben Gvir held a similar rally earlier this year that was joined by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich who doubled down on their call for Palestinians to be removed completely from Gaza.
“We knew what that would bring and we tried to prevent it,” Smotrich said, according to Al Jazeera. “Without settlements, there is no security.”
Ben Gvir said there is no way to win the war “without the rebuild[ing] of Gush Katif and the Gaza Strip. It should be flourished with Jewish villages and Jewish cities.”
Haaretz noted at the time that the Israeli return to the Gush Katif settlements would be a Zionist vision fulfilled and, according to one speaker, Rabbi Uzi Sharbaf, “a new phase in the process of the redemption of the Jewish people.”

Sharbaf is best known for receiving a life sentence for his role in the Jewish Underground movement in 1985, which carried out terror attacks on Palestinians, according to the report. He only served seven years and now feels backed by the entire Israeli nation.
Anshel Pfeffer, the paper’s reporter, wrote that the conference’s message was clear—“not just rebuilding the settlements, but ethnic cleansing in God’s name. The International Court of Justice in the Hague was of no concern here. It wasn’t mentioned in any of the speeches. Why bother with international law when you have heavenly justice on your side?”
It is widely believed among Gazans that Israel intends to completely destroy the enclave and make it uninhabitable so they will have to flee into Egypt.
Ben Gvir holds the keys to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s kingdom because the prime minister maintains power by keeping his extremist government happy. Netanyahu faces criminal charges once out of office.
Ben Gvir has not been shy about this power and warned Netanyahu that if he stopped the war in Gaza, he would dissolve the government.
“Stopping the war = dissolution of the government,” he posted earlier in the war.
Ben Gvir represents the fringe that has become mainstream in Israel since the beginning of the year. NPR noted that 15 years ago, he was convicted in an Israeli court for inciting racism and supporting an anti-Arab movement that Israel has outlawed as a terrorist organization.
Smotrich also said Israel must control Gaza for a long time. He said without Jewish settlements in Gaza, we’ll “wake up in 10 years or 15 years to a new Oct. 7.”
TRENDPOST: The Trends Journal has said from the beginning of the war that this is nothing more than another Israeli land steal and has nothing to do with rescuing the hostages.
This is unacceptable, where are the peace organizations and activists. How did a small minority of extremists capture multiple democracies and get to ignore internationally agreed upon norms?
