Lavrov Calls Out Austin's 'Freudian Slip' as Proof U.S. Wants War With Russia
Victoria Nuland, the State Department's most important person, once said "Fuck the EU" in a phone call
Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s top diplomat, said Sunday that U.S. Secretary of State Lloyd Austin slipped when he told the House Armed Services Committee last week about the Biden administration’s plan for Ukraine and a possible NATO war with Moscow.
Austin repeated the line that if Ukraine falls, he believes the Baltic states would be in Russian President Vladimir Putin’s crosshairs.
“And quite frankly, if Ukraine falls, I really believe that NATO will be in a fight with Russia,” he said, according to Newsweek.

TASS, the Russian outlet, reported that Lavrov saw the comment as a significant admission.
"The meaning of this statement is that if Ukraine loses, NATO will have to go against Russia,” he said, according to the outlet. “In a Freudian slip he blurted out what they had in mind. Before that, everyone was saying: We can't let Ukraine lose, because [Russian President Vladimir] Putin will not stop at this and will take over the Baltics, Poland, Finland. But it turns out, according to Mr. Austin's open, unambiguous statement, it's the other way round. We do not have such plans and cannot have them, but the Americans do.”
Lavrov said the European economy is another victim of the U.S.-sponsored war in Ukraine, and he even accused Washington of intentionally damaging the EU economy by attacking the Nord Stream pipelines, which the Biden administration denies — while trying to keep a straight face.
“All major expenses have been shifted to Europe. People are living increasingly worse, energy resources have rocketed in price manyfold, compared with what it could have been if the Americans had not blown up the Nord Stream gas pipelines,” he said.
It should be noted that Victoria Nuland, the State Department’s #2, famously said in a phone recording “fuck the EU,” and addressed a Senate hearing in February 2023 and told Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, “Senator Cruz, like you, I am, and I think the administration is, very gratified to know that Nord Stream 2 is now, as you like to say, a hunk of metal at the bottom of the sea.”
