Lavrov: Russia Will Never Stop Until Its Goals in Ukraine Are Reached
Ukraine has said it will not negotiate for a peaceful resolution until every last Russian troop leaves the country, so here we are
Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s top diplomat, said Wednesday that Moscow will not end its fight in Ukraine until it achieves its mission, which, when distilled, means a neutral Kyiv, no chance of the smaller country ever entering NATO, and keeping the 20 percent of the country now in its control.
“We can’t and won’t ever give up the goals that were announced as part of the special military operation,” Lavrov said, according to RT, the Russian news outlet.
Lavrov touched upon some of the long-held claims by Moscow that the collective West has been working to destabilize Russia by encouraging terrorists in the Caucasus and the buildup of NATO infrastructure along its border.
The Trends Journal has reported extensively on NATO’s expansion and how William Burns, the current C.I.A. director who was the ambassador to Russia under President George W. Bush, warned in 2008 that “Ukrainian entry into NATO is the brightest of all red lines for the Russian elite.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke publicly about Ukraine in January and blamed the Biden administration for essentially trying to drag Russia into a war because Washington refused to negotiate on key security demands the Kremlin had regarding NATO’s expansion east.
Putin said Western elites have been intentionally targeting Russia to maintain their dominance. He said these elites are trying to suppress “any sovereign independent centers of development in order to further brutally impose their will on other countries and nations, to plant their fake values.”
