McCarthy Out, Trump in?
Will the former president and likely 2024 Republican nominee become the U.S.'s next Speaker of the House?
Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R- Calif., was ousted as Speaker of the House on Tuesday in a historic vote (216-210), becoming the first speaker to ever be voted out of office.
Talk immediately turned to who will replace McCarthy, and some Republicans have expressed the desire to tap Donald Trump, the former president and current Republican hopeful, for the job.
“Given that Trump is essentially the nominee, who better to bring this party together and to do it now,” Stephen K. Bannon, Trump’s former chief strategist, said.
Rep. Troy Nehls, R-Texas, said last Tuesday that he will file the appropriate paperwork to nominate Trump.
“President Trump, the greatest President of my lifetime, has a proven record of putting America First and will make the House great again,” he said, according to The Hill.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., also voiced her support for the former president.
“President Trump is THE LEADER of the Republican Party,” she posted. “President Trump should be our Speaker!”
She continued, “He received a record number of Republican votes of any Republican Presidential candidate! We can make him Speaker and then elect him President!”
Sean Hannity, the Fox News host, citing unnamed sources, said Trump is open to the idea.
Alex Jones, the InfoWars head, said, “"Donald Trump should be nominated as a litmus test to all these Republicans. With all the fake charges and all the fake trials, how awesome would it be to make Donald Trump Speaker of the House!”
(The Speake of the House does not need to be a member of Congress.)
The Wall Street Journal reported on how the future speaker will be selected: After a chaotic day of voting toppled McCarthy, Speaker Pro Tempore Patrick McHenry (R., N.C.)—running the House temporarily—closed the chamber to give colleagues time to find their next leader. He said Republican hopefuls would make their pitch next Tuesday with the goal of a vote the following Wednesday.
TRENDPOST: The cover of this week’s Trends Journal depicts a “shittyit,” a politician who is a full-of-shit idiot.
Gerald Celente, in response to McCarthy’s ouster, said, “Today we got rid of a shittyit.”
McCarthy was a little puppet, Celente said.
“I’m glad they got rid of that guy, because he was making a deal with [U.S. President Joe] Biden” to fund the Ukraine disaster.
This would be Sun Tzu level strategy!
Heads would explode on BOTH sides of the aisle. And it would energize all of us Great Unwashed who want to fight the growing globalist/socialist/surveillance/control psychopaths. The question is can the self-serving, self-neutered Bush GOP Establishment find the collective cojones to strike a bold move?
