MEDVEDEV: Iran has tested its nuclear weapons
Israel's opposition leader says there has never been such a political disaster
Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy chairman of Russia’s national security council, posted on X Wednesday that the Iranians showed the world that they may not have a nuclear bomb, but they have the Strait of Hormuz.
“It’s not clear how the truce between Washington and Tehran will play out,” he posted on X. “But one thing is certain —Iran has tested its nuclear weapons. It is called the Strait of Hormuz. Its potential is inexhaustible.”
President Donald Trump announced late Tuesday that Iran and the U.S. agreed to a 2-week ceasefire that resulted in both countries claiming victory. (Professor Mohammad Marandi spoke to the Trends Journal about the deal.)
Iran proved to the U.S. that it has the power to close down the vital waterway and potentially smash the global economy. Iran also flexed its muscle in carrying out strikes against Gulf states that allowed the U.S. military to launch operations.
The Financial Times reported that it was the White House that was “begging” for a deal.
The report said:
Trump, worried about surging oil prices and surprised by a resilient Iranian regime, was eager for a ceasefire since at least his first threat on March 21 to “obliterate” Iran’s power plants, according to five people familiar with the Pakistan-led back channel.
