Netanyahu Tries to Tie Hamas Attack to Judicial Reform Protests: Report
Netanyahu was facing historic protests over his push for a judicial overhaul before the Hamas attack
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly attempted to link the country’s judicial reform protests to the 7 October Hamas attack, apparently blaming reservists who went on strike to voice concerns about the overhaul.
A reporter for Israel’s Channel 13 said she asked the prime minister about the attack. He told the reporter that after the war, the country will examine if the refusal of military duty could have somehow influenced the attack.
Benny Gantz, a Netanyahu rival, seized on Israeli reports about Netanyahu tying the attack to the protests and posted on X: “Evading responsibility and mudslinging during war deals harm to the country. The prime minister must unequivocally retract his statement.”
