Netanyahu's Boss Rejects Measure to Hold IDF Officers Accountable for WCK Convoy Bombing
WCK has called for an independent probe because the 'IDF cannot credibly investigate its own failure in Gaza.'
Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israeli’s national security minister who owns Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, lashed out at calls to hold the officers responsible for the deadly attack on the World Central Kitchen food convoy — saying that it would “convey weakness.”

“The chief of staff’s decision to dismiss senior officers is an abandonment of the fighters in the middle of a war and a serious mistake that conveys weakness,” he said, according to Middle East Monitor. “Even if there are mistakes in identification, soldiers are backed up in war.”

The Times of Israel reported that two officers will be “removed from their roles and several other top commanders in the Israel Defense Forces will be formally censured for their involvement in a deadly drone strike.”
Chef José Andrés, the head of the World Central Kitchen (WCK), said Wednesday that Israel targeted his team in Gaza “systemically, car by car,” which further confirms earlier reports stating that the strike was no accident.
He told Reuters that his group had been in communication with Israel and said the country knew his aid workers' movements.
"This was not just a bad luck situation where ‘oops’ we dropped the bomb in the wrong place," Andres said, according to the report.
"This was over a 1.5, 1.8 kilometers, with a very defined humanitarian convoy that had signs in the top, in the roof, a very colorful logo that we are obviously very proud of. It's “very clear who we are and what we do,” he said.
His organization demanded an independent investigation because the “IDF cannot credibly investigate its own failure in Gaza.”
Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur, posted on X Tuesday that Israel likely intentionally targeted the World Central Kitchen convoy so it can continue to starve Palestinians “quietly.”
“Knowing how Israel operates, my assessment is that Israeli forces intentionally killed WCK workers so that donors would pull out & civilians in Gaza could continue to be starved quietly. Israel knows Western countries & most Arab countries won't move a finger for the Palestinians,” she posted.
Ben-Gvir has said he would disband the country’s war cabinet if the genocide in Gaza is slowed in any way, and thus, owns Netanyahu.
Ben-Gvir, the head of Otzma Yehudit, or Jewish Power, a far-right political party, threatened earlier this month to dissolve the fragile extremist government, which would mean Netanayhu would lose his government and face charges that could put him behind bars for years.
Ben-Gvir represents the fringe that has become mainstream in Israel since the beginning of the year. NPR noted that 15 years ago, he was convicted in Israeli court for inciting racism and supporting an anti-Arab movement which Israel has outlawed as a terrorist organization.
Most Americans know very little about Netanyahu’s extremist, racist government.
