Nuland is Back, and She Wants the U.S. to Help Ukraine Hit Targets Deep Inside Russia

Russia has warned that it will respond decisively if its territory comes under attack. Nuland is selling WWIII.

Victoria Nuland, the former under-secretary of state for political affairs at the U.S. State Department, said in an interview Sunday that the U.S. needs to permit Ukraine to strike Russian territory with weapons provided by Washington.

“They need to be able to stop these Russian attacks that are coming from bases inside Russia… so I think there is the question that we – the United States – our allies, give them more help in hitting Russian bases, which, heretofore have not been able to do,” she told ABC News’s “This Week.”

She said she believes that if the attacks are coming from over the line in Russia, those targets “should be fair game, whether they are where missiles are being fired from, or where troops are being supplied from.”

“It’s time for that because Russia has obviously escalated this war,” she said.

Nuland said Russia has been exploiting the limits that the U.S. has put on the weapons it has provided Ukraine. At least publicly, the Biden administration has said it does not support Ukraine using U.S. weapons to strike Russia out of fear of a major escalation.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken appeared last week that the administration is no longer so intent on enforcing the mandate.

“We've not enabled or encouraged strikes outside of Ukraine, but ultimately, Ukraine has to make decisions for itself about how it's going to conduct this war,” he said.

Nuland announced in March that she was stepping down from her post in March and that she would be taking a teaching position at Columbia University.

Ray McGovern told Sputnik’s “The Critical Hour” program that her departure could be linked to the leaked conference with Germany’s Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

Russia said Pistorius’s call was proof that “the Bundeswehr is discussing substantively and specifically plans to strike Russian territory.”

McGovern theorized that Nuland could have agreed with the call’s concept.

“My best guess here is that the CIA and the Defense Department and the NSA got this message around saying, ‘look, Victoria’s got her own agenda here,’” he said, according to Sputnik. “‘The president doesn’t really want to strike these ammo depots in Russia or knock down the [Crimean] Bridge. So we got to rein her in, I guess it’s time for her to go to early retirement.’”

Dr. Matthew Crosston, professor of national security and director of academic transformation at Bowie State University, also told Sputnik.
