Nuland May Have Been Forced Out Over Stance on Russia: Former CIA Analyst
Victoria 'Fuck the EU' Nuland is a major Russia hawk who has been at war with Russia throughout her decades-long role in the government.
Victoria Nuland, the under-secretary of state for political affairs at the U.S. State Department, announced this week that she will retire after decades of promoting the neo-con agenda in Washington.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken issued a statement Tuesday thanking “Toria” for her service.
“Over the past three years, Toria has led this Department on everything from addressing complex crises in the Sahel, Haiti, and the Middle East, to broadening and strengthening America’s alliances and partnerships across Europe and the Indo-Pacific,” he wrote.

The announcement seemed sudden given that it occurred while the wheels continue to fall off Ukraine’s war effort against Russia. But one former CIA analyst has a theory as to why she may be leaving.
Ray McGovern told Sputnik’s “The Critical Hour” program that her departure could be linked to the leaked conference with Germany’s Defense Minister Boris Pistorius. Russia said Pistorius’s call was proof that “the Bundeswehr is discussing substantively and specifically plans to strike Russian territory.”
McGovern theorized that Nuland could have agreed with the call’s concept.
“My best guess here is that the CIA and the Defense Department and the NSA got this message around saying, 'look, Victoria's got her own agenda here,’” he said, according to Sputnik. “‘The president doesn't really want to strike these ammo depots in Russia or knock down the [Crimean] Bridge. So we got to rein her in, I guess it's time for her to go to early retirement.’”
Dr. Matthew Crosston, professor of national security and director of academic transformation at Bowie State University, also told Sputnik.
“I consider it plausible that Nuland had become frustrated with the slowing down or lessening of support within DC corridors of power for continuing the conflict in Ukraine."
"She undoubtedly understood that if American support lessons or wanes, Ukraine loses. Period. Perhaps she did not want to be in the administration that would be responsible for that outcome."
The Trends Journal emailed the State Department for comment on McGovern’s theory.
Former CIA Security Analyst Ray McGovern made the case that Nuland may have been a casualty of the leaked German discussion of preparations for German missile attack on the Kerch bridge that links Russia to Crimea. Ray believes Nuland was operating on her own, bypassing US channels and gave German Defense Minister Pistorious the go ahead to blow up the bridge. As it turned out, the leak sunk Nuland’s war ship when US high ups decided to force Nuland out. l
