Scott Ritter, the former UN weapons inspector, said in an interview this week that President Donald Trump has largely surrounded himself with Russia hawks — like U.S. Secretary of State/National Security Adviser Marco Rubio — who have tried for years to bring down Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the White House’s policies toward the Kremlin are essentially a continuation of the Biden administraion’s hope for Moscow’s “strategic defeat.”

“The Trump administration, man for man, with the possible exception of [Director of National Intelligence] Tulsi Gabbard, and [Vice President] JD Vance…maybe [the U.S. health secretary] RFK Jr., they are the Biden administration in terms of Russian policy…They’re Russophobes, they’re people who hate Russia…who have been actively working, during the Biden administration, to bring down the government of Vladimir Putin,” he told Judge Andrew Napolitano’s “Judging Freedom.”
