Scott Ritter, the former UN weapons inspector, said in an interview published Friday that the Biden administration is fully aware of Hezbollah’s capabilities and the damage it could inflict on Israel if a full-scale war breaks out in the north.

“Biden knows one thing, at least his administration knows one thing: If Israel goes into a full-scale war with Hezbollah, Israel is probably going to be destroyed,” he told “Dialogue Works.” “That it’s the end of Israel. Israel can’t survive that fight. Hezbollah has the ability to blanket Israel with accurate long-range missiles from head-to-toe, left-to-right…that Israel can’t shoot down.”

He continued, “Moreover, if Israel aggressively strikes Lebanon to knock Hezbollah out of the fight, Iran will join the fight and, again, Israel is not ready to deal with that. This becomes a war of existential survival for Israel.”

He said the Biden administration is doing its best to convince Israel not to attack to preserve the state, but it is up against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — who wants to remain in power.

He said the Biden administration is doing its best to convince Israel not to attack to preserve the state, but it is up against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who wants to stay in power and needs the war to maintain his extremist coalition.

Ritter noted that even IDF officials understand that a war with Hezbollah would be devastating. He also noted how officials have admitted that the idea of a total victory over either groups is impossible.

Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, the IDF spokesman, admitted to an Israeli broadcaster last week that a total defeat of Hamas is not possible, angering Netanyahu who has said that is one of his chief goals of the war.

“This business of destroying Hamas, making Hamas disappear—it’s simply throwing sand in the eyes of the public. Hamas is an idea, Hamas is a party. It’s rooted in the hearts of people—whoever thinks we can eliminate Hamas is wrong,” Hagari told Israel’s Channel 13.

Netanyahu’s office responded to Hagari’s comments by reasserting its claim that its goal in Gaza is the “destruction of Hamas’s military and governing capabilities.”

“The IDF, of course, is committed to this,” the office said, according to CNN.
