Russia Anticipates Ukrainian Attack on Nuke Plant With Radioactive Missile
Aleksey Danilov, Ukraine’s security chief, said “maximum destruction” of Russian military personnel and hardware is “the number one task”
A senior Russian atomic energy industry official said in an interview on Tuesday that Moscow is anticipating a Ukrainian attack on the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
Renat Karchaa, a senior aide to the head of Rosenergoatom, told Rossiya 24 TV channel that he expects the attack to occur in the overnight hours of 5 July.
“While it’s still dark, Ukrainian forces will attempt an attack on the Zaporozhye plant with long-range high-precision munitions, as well as suicide drones,” he said, according to RT, the Russian outlet. He said Ukraine will employ a Soviet-made Tochka-U tactical ballistic missile filled with radioactive waste collected from the South-Ukrainian nuclear power plant.
