The Soldiers' Widows of Russia issued a statement on Wednesday urging President Vladimir Putin to mobilize country to deal a decisive military blow to Ukraine to bring an end to the conflict that is approaching its one-year mark.
The call came after a Ukrainian drone killed about 90 Russian troops at a building in the city of Makeyevka in Donetsk People’s Republic just after midnight on 1 January. Ukrainian officials put the number of troops killed well into the hundreds.
“We ask our President, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, to allow the Russian Army to carry out a large-scale mobilisation,” the group said on Telegram, according to Reuters. “We ask our President, our Supreme Commander-in-Chief, to prohibit the departure of men of military age from Russia. And we have a full moral right to do this: our husbands died protecting these men, but who will protect us if they run away?”
The news outlet spoke to a representative of the group who said all fighting-age men should be mobilized because “the coming war will require completely different resources: human, psychological, economic.”
“Protecting the Motherland is a duty,” she said.
Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, said Russia aims to exhaust his country with prolonged missile attacks.
“We must ensure - and we will do everything for this - that this goal of terrorists fails like all the others,” he said, according to The BBC. “Now is the time when everyone involved in the protection of the sky should be especially attentive.”
The Russian defense ministry announced that its forces killed 200 Ukrainian troops in Dontesk in a retaliatory strike.
Now, everyone points a finger on Russia and the hypocrite West say that Russia is wrong. Since President Putin took over the Presidency of Russia, he has been telling NATO not to expand in the Caucasus. One year before the invasion, Putin sent messages to NATO, US and the West to talk to him about the Security issues Russia is facing. All his initiatives have been conveniently ignored or rejected by the West. The West presumably harboured ill intentions against Russia. Any right-minded human being will be supporting President Putin for the invasion as Ukraine sold its sovereignity and souls to the US and NATO. We wish Russia all success.
This is getting dangerous. The weight which is mounting on the shoulders of one man, namely Vladmir Putin is surely the greatest any man in history has had to carry. God help him, and us.
