Dmitry Medvedev, the former Russian president, criticized the arrival of U.S. M1 Abrams tanks in Ukraine and warned that the latest shipment only moves to world closer to WWIII.
“It looks like Russia is being left with little choice other than a direct conflict with NATO,” he said, according to RT, the Russian news outlet.
He said Russia stands ready to face off against NATO, which has “turned into an openly fascist bloc similar to Hitler’s Axis.”
There is no panacea and one kind of weapon that can change the balance of forces on the battlefield. There is no such weapon - the Kremlin
Alexei Arbatov, a foreign and security policy expert, said in February 2023 that “NATO countries are not directly involved in the conflict, although they supply weapons, and Russia does not strike at NATO countries.”
We have noted that the U.S. and other Western countries are growing bolder in their support for Ukraine because they believe that the Russian threat to use tactical nuclear weapons in the country is not high. Weapons like the Patriot air defense systems and M1 Abrams tanks were once considered a no-go but have since been deployed.
NORD STREAM ATTACK HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH UKRAINE: HERSH
The U.S. announced in January that it will provide Ukraine with 31 M1A2 Abrams tanks. CNN reported at the time that the Abrams tank that the U.S. will provide Ukraine is an upgraded model rather than the M1A1 that needs to be manufactured before they reach Ukraine, which will take “many months” or even years.
These tanks were to be manufactured in the government-owned, General Dynamics-operated plant in Lima, Ohio. Politico noted that the plant can produce about three tanks per week.
The report said the new tank includes an independent thermal viewer to help them locate warm bodies and engines to target. These tanks are high-maintenance and require about an hour of service for every three hours in battle, but the newer model has an internal system to help crews run diagnostic tests.
Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, said the shipment will “in no way” affect the outcome of the war, The Washington Post reported.
“There is no panacea and one kind of weapon that can change the balance of forces on the battlefield. There is no such weapon,” he said.
TRENDPOST: It is worth noting that there are three versions of this M1A2 configuration, and the U.S. will not be providing Ukraine with its newest model that comes with secret armor that includes depleted uranium.
Politico noted that federal policy forbids the export of Abrams with classified armor packages used by the U.S. military.
The report noted that the U.S. “strips the vehicles of this secret armor “recipe” before selling them to other countries.”
We have noted that war is good business for the military-industrial complex and the plant in Ohio, where these tanks will be manufactured, is already backlogged with orders from Taiwan and Poland, “orders it would be difficult and likely controversial to put on the backburner,” the report said.
The Trends Journal has long noted that the West is not engaged in a “proxy” war with Russia. The West is at war.
