Trump Urged to Remove Pick for U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council Over Op-Ed Calling Gazans Unworthy of Mercy

President Donald Trump has faced calls to remove Martin Oliner, his appointee on the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council, over an op-ed in The Jerusalem Post that identified Gazans as fundamentally evil and unworthy of mercy.
Oliner defended Trump’s call to ethnically cleanse Gaza and said the president– a real estate developer by trade – is correct when he says the enclave is unlivable after Israel’s 15-month-long bombing campaign, and “those who purport to care about Gazans” should support the idea to remove the population.
“And those like myself who do not believe Gazans are worthy of any mercy should welcome it as well,” he wrote. “LET’S NOT mince words here. The people of Gaza are collectively guilty for invading Israel, murdering, raping and kidnapping Israelis and holding them hostage.”
His comments are not surprising to anyone who has been paying attention, and there’s a good chance that this column could put him in the running if Trump ever needs a replacement in his Cabinet.
Mark Levin, the pro-Israel Fox News host once posted an op-ed that said there are no innocent Palestinians, and Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., was caught on video telling an anti-genocide activist that “we should kill them all” – referring to the trapped, starving Palestinians huddled in Gaza.
Trump was the candidate of choice for extremists in Israel who have called for the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from Gaza.
