Trump's Team Uses Biden's Playbook, Wants Ukraine to Lower Draft Age
So much for peace within 24 hours!
Rep. Mike Waltz, the neocon warhawk Donald Trump selected to be his national security adviser, said in an interview Sunday that Ukraine needs to lower its conscription age to 18 to fill out the frontlines before negotiations with Russia begin, saying the country needs to be “all in for democracy.”
“And they certainly have fought bravely and they certainly have taken a very noble and tough stand. But we need to see those manpower shortages addressed,” he told ABC News on Sunday, according to the Financial Times.
Waltz sounded a lot like outgoing U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who said in an interview in December that Kyiv has some difficult decision ahead vis-a-vis the draft. Blinken said Ukraine needs to get “younger people into the fight.”
