Ukraine a 'Corrupt,' 'Mafia State' That West Should Have Never Supported: Former Boris Johnson Adviser
Says Zelensky managed to 'con' the West to believe he was some kind of Churchillian underdog
Dominic Cummings, the one-time top aide to former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, gave an extensive interview about the Ukraine disaster and what it means for the West.

“We should have never got into the whole stupid situation,” he told I News. “This is not a replay of 1940 with Potemkin [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelensky as the Churchillian underdog. This whole Ukrainian corrupt mafia state has basically conned us all and we’re all going to get fucked as a consequence. We are getting fucked now right?”
Cummings said the cost of living ballooned in Europe and Russia managed to move closer to China.
He was asked about the West’s theory that Russian President Vladimir Putin needed to be taught a lesson.
“What lesson have we taught him? The lesson we’ve taught Putin is that we’re a bunch of total fucking jokers. I mean Putin already knew that before the war. But this has emphasized it and broadcast it to the entire world what a bunch of clowns we are and America now is doubling down on trying to seize Russian assets so it’s already created a sanctions regime which is encouraging the building of alternative financial systems globally… That’s not teaching Putin any lesson only that we’re idiots.”
Boris Johnson, his old boss, has been one of the biggest Western supporters of the war and promised Ukrainians that the UK will be in their corner until they “ultimately prevail.”
Fiona Hill, senior fellow at the Center on the United States and Europe at the Brookings Institution, and Angela Stent, a nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings, penned an article in Foreign Affairs that mentions a possible peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia in the early days of the war.
The two, who are deeply connected to the political establishment in Washington, cited “multiple former senior U.S. officials” who told them that it seemed Kyiv and Moscow “have tentatively agreed on the outlines of a negotiated interim settlement: Russia would withdraw to its position on February 23, when it controlled part of the Donbas region and all of Crimea, and in exchange, Ukraine would promise not to seek NATO membership and instead receive security guarantees from a number of countries.”
The two said Russia changed its position on the matter in July, and the new objective is not a settlement, but rather “Ukrainian capitulation.”
Cummings said the entire invasion should have been avoided and the West should have stopped going on and on about NATO membership for Kyiv.
“We kept talking about it. Russia said repeatedly ‘Don’t do this or we’ll fucking wreck the place’. Why have we got into the whole stupid argument? About what? About a corrupt shithole country that doesn’t matter at all. The whole thing is completely senseless.”
TRENDPOST: The Trends Journal noted since the start of the war that Ukraine’s military is no match for the much larger Russian army, and it would save the most lives if Kyiv decided to ignore the warmongers in Washington and London and negotiate for a settlement and promise neutrality. We were completely ignored in the mainstream that sold the lie that Ukraine was winning.
