UK's Cameron: Our Backing for Israel is 'Not Unconditional'
Britain's top diplomat wrote an op-ed after Israel's attack on a humanitarian food convoy
David Cameron, the UK’s foreign minister, penned an op-ed published Sunday and said Britain’s support for Israel is “not unconditional.”
He wrote in The Sunday Times about the obligation Israel has to abide by international law after the bombing of the World Central Kitchen workers in Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of seven, including British ex-servicemen John Chapman, James Henderson, and James Kirby.
“Israel has a right to self-defense that we should support,” he wrote. “Of course our backing is not unconditional: we expect such a proud and successful democracy to abide by international humanitarian law, even when challenged in this way.”
