U.S.-Backed IDF Militants Strike Food Convoy Before it Could Reach Starving Gazans
Starvation is Israel's new form of war.
A food convoy headed into Gaza was targeted by Israeli naval gunfire as babies, children, and adults continue to suffer from a lack of food because of an U.S.-funded Israeli blockade into the enclave.
Thomas White, the head of UNWRA, said there were no injuries in the strikes. His agency, which has been stripped of funding by the U.S., France, and UK over Israeli allegations that some of its workers took part in the 7 October Hamas attack, posted on X: “We CANNOT deliver humanitarian aid under fire. Safe and sustainable humanitarian access is URGENTLY needed everywhere including in the north of Gaza.”
In the meantime, U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson, who represents the right-wing Evangelical Christian that Israel needs in Washington for blind support, is pushing for 17 billion more for Israel to continue its genocide and wants funding for UNWRA permanently ended. Millions in Gaza rely on the agency, but they are seen as terrorists by many Americans who follow Johnson’s message.
Defense for Children International said Monday that more than 12,100 children have been killed in Gaza, but the number is likely much higher because more than 8,000 people still missing under the rubble, Al Jazeera reported.
Khaled Quzmar, the head of the agency, told the outlet: “Since October 7, an average of 250 children are killed every day as a result of the continuous bombardment by the Israeli army. This is unprecedented – it has not occurred in any place in the world subject to war.”
NEW TRENDS JOURNAL OUT TOMORROW
Gaza is starving and there is fear that diseases will spread rapidly.
Earlier in the war, Giora Eiland, the former head of the Israeli National Security Council, spoke about how rampant disease could benefit the military campaign.
Who are the “poor” women of Gaza? They are all the mothers, sisters or wives of Hamas murderers…
The international community warns us of a humanitarian disaster in Gaza and of severe epidemics. We must not shy away from this, as difficult as that may be. After all, severe epidemics in the south of the Gaza Strip will bring victory closer and reduce casualties among IDF soldiers.
The World Food Program said that the entire Gazan population is facing “crisis or worse levels of acute food insecurity.” The agency said more than 500,000 face “catastrophe,” which means an extreme lack of food.
Bezalel Smotrich, Israel’s far-right finance minister in charge of West Bank territories, and fat-face Itamar Ben-Gvir, the convicted racist and Israel’s national security minister, have both called on the punishment of Palestinians.
Smotrich called the decision to allow two fuel trucks to enter Gaza last month a “grave mistake.”
Ben Gvir agreed with Smotrich at the time: “So long as our hostages don’t even get a visit from the Red Cross, there’s no sense in giving the enemy humanitarian gifts.”
Israeli protesters have been stopping the flow of trucks in the Kerem Shalom border crossing, forcing the humanitarian aid to be rerouted to the Rafah crossing in Egypt. Common Dreams noted that sometimes the aid is just prevented altogether.
A columnist for Middle East Eye, who lives in Gaza, wrote about how the lack of food has resulted in most Gazans sleeping the day away, not sure of what is real and what is not.
“When we are hungry, instead of eating, we fall asleep. We no longer know what is real and what is not, except for our suffering,” the writer, who was not named, wrote. “The children implore us, crying for some chicken, sweets, or an apple. We look at each other, heartbroken and hopeless.”
Bombing food convoys is another expression of the depravity among Zionists in the Netanyahu govt. Not all members of the Knesset are insane mind you, but their voices are too weak to be effective. Same thing exists in the USA. Fear of reprisal from AIPAC and the ADL has kept opposition from being heard. I’ve been organizing signers of the letter to Biden for a ceasefire these past two weeks and each officer I have spoken to thinks that they are alone. They feel isolated and afraid to act. I assure them they are not alone which was amplified by the Chicago City Council vote last week. In asking them to introduce a ceasefire resolution in their respective state legislatures. I tell them that there are many in their legislature who support a ceasefire but each is waiting for the other to take the first step by introducing a resolution. They have the City of Chicago behind them but they must strike the iron while it’s hot to build off the victory in Chicago which passed a resolution for a ceasefire by just one vote cast by the Mayor. I hope to find out this week if my efforts pay off in the Illinois House.
