U.S. Rep Who Served in Israel's Military Compared Innocent Palestinians to Nazis
Mast made an impassioned plea for fellow reps not to be too concerned about innocent Palestinians blowing up
Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., who made an impassioned plea for fellow reps not to be too concerned about innocent Palestinians blowing up, volunteered in Israel’s IDF before becoming a member of U.S. Congress, according to AntiWar.com.
“I would encourage the other side to not so lightly throw around the idea of innocent Palestinian civilians, as frequently,” he said. “I don’t think we would so lightly throw around the term ‘innocent Nazi civilians’ during World War II.”
The Hill reported that Mast wore his old Israeli military uniform on Capitol Hill last month. The magazine said he served as a volunteer with the Israel Defense Forces.
His comments came shortly after Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., was elected U.S. House Speaker. The pro-Israel congressman wasted no time last week to let the American public know that his first measure of business was to “support” Israel.
“Our nation’s greatest ally in the Middle East is under attack—the first bill that I am going to bring to this floor, will be in support of our dear friend Israel. And we’re overdue in getting that done,” the Louisiana Republican said to cheers from Congress.
