Warmongers in House Easily Pass $40B in New Aid for Ukraine
There’s nothing that brings Congress together like the potential of war
Note to readers: The new Trends Journal was released Tuesday and was packed with the latest trends in the Ukraine War, economy, and other topics. Please consider subscribing here.
No matter how divided Washington seems, nothing brings lawmakers together like a nice war.
CNN said the agreement to send arms to Ukraine to keep the blood flowing “has been a rare bright spot of bipartisanship on Capitol Hill with Democrats and Republicans largely rallying around a call to help the nation as it faces Russian attack.”
The House late Tuesday voted on a bill, 368-57, that will send $40 billion in new aid to Ukraine — or more than 5 percent of the entire U.S. national security budget.
For months, lawmakers in the House have been salivating over a good war. Rep. Jason Crow, D-Colo., who was part of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Delegation of Doom to Kyiv last month, said he spoke with Ukrainians about three things: Weapons, weapons, and weapons.
LULA: ZELENSKY, PUTIN EQUALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WAR
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer vowed a swift vote in the Senate, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, his arch nemesis, also expressed optimism that the bill will glide to President Biden’s desk. (War makes strange bedfellows in Washington.)
Fifty-seven House Republicans voted against the measure. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, tweeted, “More money for Ukraine while baby formula is out of stock for Americans? Voted No.”
Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., also took to Twitter after the vote to excoriate the president. He pointed to the historic border crossings from Mexico and wrote, “This Regime prioritizes every other country before it even thinks about our own – this is the definition of America Last. I VOTE NO!”
Politico reported that the $40 billion approved “goes beyond Biden’s request for $33 billion” and amounts to more than 5 percent of the entire U.S. national security budget.
TRENDPOST: As Gerald Celente has said, “When all else fails, they take you to war.” And just as the psychopathic freaks brought the world the COVID War in 2020—which spiked inflation and sunk nation’s GDPs—with economic disaster racking equity markets, now too (as we detail in this and previous Trends Journals ), they have taken us to WWIII.
Chickenhawks
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who called to ‘take out’ Russian President Vladimir Putin at the beginning of the war, said the $40 billion is worth it because “defeating Putin is priceless.”
“Do I think this will be the last round? No, I think we’ll be doing this again,” Graham said, according to Politico. “Who knows where we’re going to be two months from now, three months from now. As long as they’re willing to fight, we need to help.”
Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, said House members got the bill at about 3 p.m. and voted on it Tuesday night. He called portions of the bill “a massive slush fund that goes to the State Department.”
TRENDPOST: The Trends Journal is opposed to Putin’s war in Ukraine but it is important that we know how we got here. Putin raised concerns about weapons systems being placed near Russia's borders and called the move “red lines.” Putin saw the possibility of Ukraine becoming a member of NATO as a security threat for Russia. NATO, which DID NOT WANT UKRAINE to join due to the threat of provoking Russia, said it will not let Moscow dictate who gets to join and who does not.
Putin claimed that Western countries broke promises not to expand NATO as the Soviet Union collapsed. (Click here for more background.)
Macron: Don’t Humiliate Putin
French President Emmanuel Macron – who has been one of the West’s main negotiators with Putin since prior to the invasion – warned the world Tuesday that it is important that the Russian president is not humiliated if there is some kind of peace accord.
"We will have a peace to build tomorrow, let us never forget that," Macron said. "I mentioned this earlier. We will have to do this with Ukraine and Russia around the table. The end of the discussion and the negotiation will be set by Ukraine and Russia. But it will not be done in denial, nor in exclusion of each other, nor even in humiliation."
Macron’s comments are important because the Biden administration and U.S. politicians hate Putin and their loathing shows. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, WHO MADE A FORTUNE ON THE BOARD OF RAYTHEON, said it is important for the U.S. to see Russia weakened after the conflict, which to Putin would be humiliating.
ICYMI:
Great analysis per usual!
