WE'RE GOING TO WAR: Trump's Demands for Iran Would Leave Country Like Syria: Ex-British Diplomat
There is no reason, militarily, for the U.S. to attack Iran other than Trump’s desire to please Netanyahu, who seeks a greater Israel in the region, he says
The pro-Israel-extremist Trump administration will present a list of demands to Iran this weekend that would essentially leave the country completely vulnerable in the future to any Israeli attack — thus giving Tehran no other option than to prepare for a direct confrontation with the West.
Alastair Crooke, a former British diplomat, spoke with Judge Andrew Napolitano’s “Judging Freedom” about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s meeting this week with U.S. President Donald Trump.
One of the key focal points was Iran. Trump said it would be in Iran’s best interest to agree to a new deal, which Netanyahu recommended should look like a “Libya-style agreement.”
Napolitano said Trump is essentially demanding that Iran surrender its sovereignty if it has to give up its program that even U.S. intelligence has said is not being used to develop a weapon.
He also said Iran would have to part with certain long-range missiles, despite having an enemy in the region (Israel) that has U.S.-provided long-range missiles.
He also noted that Israel has nuclear weapons — from technology that it stole from the U.S.
“Where are they going with this?” Napolitano asked.
“We’re going to war,” Crooke said.
“This is the part that does, inevitably, lead to war,” Crooke said. “And Iran is preparing for a major conflict this time.”
He said Iran is preparing its air defenses and missile systems for a major U.S./Israel strike.
He said he has heard that the Israelis are trying to persuade Trump to carry out attacks that do not obliterate Iran’s complete energy sector.
He said the Israelis want the first wave of the American attack to take out Iran’s air defense systems. He said the Israelis tried to take out these systems during an attack last year and were unsuccessful because Iran’s air defense systems were locking on to incoming Israeli fighter jets.
The second wave would be to decapitate the military, political, and religious leadership inside the country, “and the model for that is Hezbollah.”
He said Iran would essentially be left “naked” and “neutered” like Syria.
He said there is no reason, militarily, for the U.S. to attack Iran other than Trump’s desire to please Netanyahu, who seeks a greater Israel in the region.
