Who Blew Up Nord Stream Pipelines? Who Cares? German Diplomat Says
German diplomat explains who challenging it will be to find any concrete answers. He also says finding out who did it - in the long run - is not that important.
Who blew up the Nord Stream pipelines?
Who cares?
Christoph Heusgen, the German diplomat, told GZERO World, that he believes that Russia sabotaged its own pipelines, but noted that it will be almost impossible to prove.
His guess is that it was targeted by countries that have been against the pipelines from the beginning. He said if a Western country was responsible for the explosion, it would create major tension in the alliance.
“Objectively, it's going to be very, very difficult to do this research. It's at 100 meter below the surface...It will be very difficult to find out,” he said.
He also noted that even if a particular explosive was found, there’s a chance the guilty country intentionally used the device to cover its tracks. He said in the long run, it will likely not make any difference who was behind the attack.
Last September, three significant natural gas leaks were discovered in the vicinity of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines in the Baltic Sea.
Investigators from the Swiss-based operator of the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline said they completed the first leg of an investigation and found “technogenic craters” at the site.
“According to preliminary results of the damage site inspection, technogenic craters with a depth of 3 - 5 m were found on the seabed at a distance of about 248 m from each other,” they said, according to World Pipelines.
The widely held belief has been that some country, with a navy capable of detonating explosives up to 360 feet below the water surface, carried out a sabotage attack.
The U.S. blamed Russia and European allies, like Poland, saw the attack as a new phase in the war. Radosław Tomasz "Radek" Sikorski, the European Parliament member and former Polish foreign minister who is married to Russia hawk Anne Applebaum, tweeted a photo of the scene, “Thank you, USA.”
Russian intelligence said it has data indicating that British military specialists directed and coordinated the attack, a claim that Britain denies.
The investigation is “ongoing,” but the Western media no longer seems interested in the issue. The Trends Journal reported earlier this month that there were two mystery ships in the vicinity of the explosion with their trackers turned off.
thx for the article Mr Celente.
perhaps too speculative - but wasn't Liz Truss' icloud account hacked prior to her resignation as PM in UK and wasnt there a leaked message that she sent to US sec of state blinken "its done" (or something to that affect) shortly after the seismographs detected the explosions?
also - how could it NOT matter who did it? Is this minister a gov official for the German people or does his allegiance elsewhere? Germans are facing approx 90% increase (year over year) in utility costs and a multibillion dollar piece of their energy infrastructure was just demolished creating the high probability if not certainty of higher energy prices for the foreseeable future. it is an act of war against the german people, but who cares who did it?
