Xi-Putin summit is a tectonic shift in the balance of global power, Ray McGovern says

Former CIA analyst speaks to The Trends Journal about the Beijing meeting between what The New York Times called 26 "mostly authoritarian nations."

Ray McGovern, the former CIA analyst, calls Xi’s meeting with Putin a ‘tectonic’ moment in global affairs and the result of a failed U.S. policy in Ukraine and Asia.

He quoted George Kennan, the former U.S. diplomat, who said (in 1948): “We shall cease to talk about vague and unreal objectives such as human rights, the raising of the living standards, and democratization. The day is not far off when we are going to have to deal in straight power concepts.”
