Zelensky Calls Putin ‘Second Hitler’ in Latest Push to Sell War to Americans

Most Americans have no clue about the headaches that Stepan Bandera has caused Zelensky’s government during the war

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is touring the U.S. this week to make sure the U.S. knows that Ukraine is not just fighting for its own territory back, it’s fighting for peace and freedom and democracy everywhere in the world…and if you’re not on board, you’re with Russia!

He sat for an interview with “60 Minutes” that aired Sunday and spoke about how grateful he was for the $70 billion that the U.S. has given him – I mean his country – and said it is a good investment because if the Russian President is not defeated in Ukraine, surely the Baltic states are next…maybe Poland.

“We can't change Putin,” Zelensky said. “Russian society has [lost] the respect of the world. They elected him, and re-elected him and raised a second Hitler. They did this. We cannot go back in time. But we can stop it here.”

Zelensky must have read the Hillary Clinton handbook on how to rile up Americans by calling Putin “Hitler.”

In 2014, Clinton, who had served as a secretary of state based on her skills as a first lady, was at a private function when she likened Putin’s moves in Crimea (which he annexed), to Hitler before WWII, The Washington Post reported. The paper said she “largely stood by her remarks.”

“I just want people to have a little historic perspective,” Clinton later said, according to the paper. “I’m not making a comparison certainly, but I am recommending that we perhaps can learn from this tactic that has been used before.”

The argument from Zelensky that it is Putin who seems like Hitler is interesting given that the government in Kyiv has had difficulty separating itself from Stepan Bandera, who used to be mentioned in Western media reports, but no longer – as to not interfere with the “messaging.”

Bandera, who has been accused by Poles, Russians, and others of carrying out a genocide, was killed six decades ago by Soviet intelligence agents and is still viewed as a father figure by some Ukrainians. Bandera was the head of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, which was accused of massacres and ethnic cleansing of Poles and Jews. Poland said as many as 100,000 Poles died in the violence, including women and children.

The killings occurred from 1943 to 1944 in various towns, including Volhynia, which the Associated Press noted was in eastern Poland at the time, which is now considered western Ukraine. Towns were burned down and many Poles still hold grudges and want an apology, the report said.

The AP reported that the peak of the violence was on 11 July 1943, which is known as “Bloody Sunday.” The report said Ukrainian insurgent fighters “carried out coordinated attacks on Poles praying in or leaving churches in more than 100 villages.”

Putin has called Kyiv’s government a team of Nazis.

TRENDPOST: Anatoly Antonov, Russia’s ambassador to the U.S., took issue with Stanford University for sponsoring an event that featured soldiers from the Azov Battalion, in an apparent effort to normalize the group. These troops joined anti-Russian Michael McFaul, a failed U.S. diplomat who teaches at the school.

“It would appear that in its maniacal drive to tarnish and cancel Russia, the U.S. is prepared to glorify Nazism,” Antonov said, according to Al Mayadeen. These troops are ostensibly on an anti-propaganda campaign and are visiting colleges across the U.S.

The news outlet noted that major Western news publications, including The New York Times, have previously labeled the Ukrainian group as ‘neo-Nazi.’

Unherd reported that the Western commentariat and political class is now extended to the Azov Battalion.

The report said, Paul Massaro, a U.S. Federal Government employee and senior policy advisor at the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, “posted a photo of himself on Twitter proudly holding up an Azov flag. A few days later, this was followed by a picture of him wearing a Stepan Bandera patch in a now-deleted tweet. Arguing with one objector, he asserted that “Azov made a heroic last stand at Azovstal and are considered heroes in Ukraine”, adding that “Bandera is viewed through the lens of the struggle for Ukrainian independence.”

Glenn Greenwald, the journalist, took to Twitter to point out that The New York Times identified the Azov Battalion as “openly neo-Nazi” in 2015, but now refers to the group as “far-right.”

“All you have to do to lose your status as a “Nazi” is fight on the side of the U.S.,” he posted.
