Trends: Zelensky Rules Out Ceding Territory to End War, Assuring More Unnecessary Bloodshed, Destruction
Ukraine cannot defeat Russia, nor can NATO
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview Tuesday that Kyiv will not cede territory to end the war with Russia, which only means more unnecessary bloodshed and destruction in the war-ravaged country.
The Trends Journal has been opposed to Russia’s invasion from the start, but, unlike the propaganda corporate media in the U.S. is selling, it was not “unprovoked.” Russia saw Ukraine as a growing threat due to its military integration with NATO and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken failed to acknowledge Russia’s legitimate security concerns. The Biden administration is filled with anti-Russian remnants from the Obama administration with failed track records, like Jake Sullivan and Victoria Nuland. President Joe Biden couldn’t even hide his contempt for Russian President Vladimir Putin during the campaign.
We’ve long said that NATO refused to allow Ukraine to become a full member for years because it wants no part of Russia. Ukraine cannot defeat Russia, nor can NATO. Zelensky would have been forced to negotiate weeks ago, but it is only because the West hates Russia to such an extent, that it is willing to provide Ukraine, one of the most corrupt countries on earth, with record amounts of weaponry and money to damage Moscow.
Zelensky vowed in an interview with The Financial Times to continue fighting to recover all the territory currently under Russian control, which he said is about 20 percent of the country.
"We have already lost too many people to simply cede our territory," he said. He said a stalemate is not an option and Kyiv must “achieve a full deoccupation of our entire territory."
The West’s position, at least publicly, has been that Ukraine is an independent country and it will be up to leaders in Kyiv to determine their approach to a peaceful settlement. But there are cracks emerging.
French President Emmanuel Macron, like anyone who talks about a peaceful resolution, took heat for warning Western powers not to humiliate Russia on the battlefield. Even President Biden said last week that it was within reason that Ukraine may have to cede land over to Russia.
Biden said he will not tell Kyiv how to proceed, but it “appears to me that at some point along the line, there’s going to have to be a negotiated settlement here.”
Oleksiy Danilov, Ukraine's secretary of the national security and defense council, told The FT that Ukraine is in a difficult fight with Russia in the Donbas region. "The temporary loss of territories is not a tragedy," he said. "The tragedy will be the loss of the country."

Russian forces and Ukrainians have been fighting it out in Donbas, which Kyiv said is the fiercest fight in Europe since WWII. Most of the reports that you are reading in major news outlets were written in cities far from the front lines in places like Sievierodonetsk and its twin city Lysychansk.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine told CNN that there is intense combat in Severodonetsk on Tuesday. Russian forces are using artillery, aircraft, and helicopters. Serhiy Haidai, head of the Luhansk military administration, said on Telegram a day earlier that the "situation in Severodonetsk has deteriorated somewhat."
ICYMI:
There is no way for Ukraine to recover the Donbass region neither Mariopol and odessa. If Zelensky is stupid enough to continue, Ukraine as a country will not be there. This, Zelensky should consider.
