These so called ruling class creatures have been ruining our country and the world with their greed. Even if they don't get the world war that they seem to want, we will be paying the deficit and coping with the bricks currency for decades. We the people getting screwed again.
I hope you don't mind if I offer a thought. It isn't the greed that's killing us, and we will never eliminate greed. That's why we have oversight, as effed up as it all is. But the reason for the actions of these people is scarier. I've come to believe they think the U.S., and collective West, are invincible and omnipotent. I choose those words carefully. I think they are drunk on the idea of "Progress" and that we are that avatars of global progress for humanity. They believe nationalism is passe, and have organized themselves to operate that way. They believe they are the most moral, the most visionary, the smartest and the most compassionate.
Mere greed would never dig the hole as deep as it has been. It takes ideologues to create the mess we are in.
The second thing I also believe is so is that our 'ruling class' just isn't as smart as they think they are. While of course some are brilliant, many do not realize how screwed up things are or how they cause it. Now, of course there are horribly corrupt cretins like Biden and the Clintons, but that is separate from the ideology. Note Obama was much more ideological, and not overtly corrupt.
I think people love to bash the 'military industrial complex' but where do the orders come from? Our govt. Why is our military flung all around the world? The policy that makes us the enforcers of the 'Rules Based Western Liberal Order" is what causes that. The policy makers tell DoD what we need and where. Of course, any govt contractor will take advantage and there are real problems. But I just don't think it's sufficient to chalk up to the 'greed of the military industrial complex'. Am I making any sense?
