Israel Systemically Targeted Food Convoy 'Car by Car,' Chef José Andrés Says
'This was not just a bad luck situation where ‘oops’ we dropped the bomb in the wrong place,' Andres said
Chef José Andrés, the head of the World Central Kitchen (WCK), said Wednesday that Israel targeted his team in Gaza “systemically, car by car,” which further confirms earlier reports stating that the strike was no accident.
He told Reuters that his group had been in communication with Israel and said the country knew his aid workers' movements.
"This was not just a bad luck situation where ‘oops’ we dropped the bomb in the wrong place," Andres said, according to the report.
"This was over a 1.5, 1.8 kilometers, with a very defined humanitarian convoy that had signs in the top, in the roof, a very colorful logo that we are obviously very proud of. It's “very clear who we are and what we do,” he said.
"They were targeting us in a deconflicting zone, in an area controlled by IDF. They knowing that it was our teams moving on that road ... with three cars," he continued.
Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur, posted on X Tuesday that Israel likely intentionally targeted the World Central Kitchen convoy so it can continue to starve Palestinians “quietly.”
“Knowing how Israel operates,my assessment is that Israeli forces intentionally killed WCK workers so that donors would pull out & civilians in Gaza could continue to be starved quietly. Israel knows Western countries & most Arab countries won't move a finger for the Palestinians,” she posted.
