Sending US arms to Taiwan may make the headlines but that's as far as it will go. The US will not save Taiwan and risk general nuclear war with China unless victory can be realized with a preemptive nuclear first strike on the Chinese mainland. It conforms to the "first use" nuclear posture Biden signed onto after taking office. On the flip side, if Putin doesn't respond to the latest US/Ukraine ATACMS missile strike on civilian beach goers in Crimea, he risks looking like he's bluffing just like the US said he is. Putin would be wise to take his case directly to the United Nation's Security Council, charging the US and proxy Ukraine with crimes against humanity. If Russia does that, it would put before the entire world the dire circumstances of US and NATO's war to destroy Russia. Russia could make its case before the world warning that it may be Russia's final warning before the West causes a global tragedy.
Without a back channel to the US, Putin has little choice but to put this crisis before the UNSC and General Assembly. There, he could make the case for establishing a new International Security and Development Architecture, first proposed by Helga Zepp-LaRouche. One that will guarantee respect for sovereignty, self determination, and real economic development of all nations. The US would be forced to show its hand to the international community. It could have the effect of causing fall out within the Biden administration and preventing WWIII.
