U.S. Coast Guard Ship Denied Port Call in Solomons as China's Influence Grows: Report
The U.S. admitted that it has not paid enough attention to Oceania countries in the past decade
A U.S. Coast Guard ship that was monitoring fishing activities in the Pacific last week was denied a port call in the Solomon Islands, as the nation of hundreds of islands strengthens its ties with China, a report said.
Stars & Stripes, citing an email from Lt. Kristin Kam, a spokeswoman for the 14th Coast Guard District in Honolulu, reported that the government did not respond to the U.S. Government’s request “for diplomatic clearance for the vessel to refuel and provision in Honiara. Accordingly, CGC Oliver Henry diverted to Papua New Guinea to refuel and provision.”

Kam said, “The U.S. Department of State is in contact with the Government of the Solomon Islands and expect all future clearances will be provided to U.S. ships.”
Why Does It Matter? The U.S. admitted that it has not paid enough attention to Oceania countries in the past decade, and is now looking to buy some new friends in hopes to counter China, which has been making inroads in the region.
Australia has raised concerns about Beijing’s new security agreement with the Solomon Islands.
Manasseh Sogavare, the prime minister of Solomon Islands, has tried to assure Canberra that a recent security agreement with China is purely economical and there will never be a Chinese military base on the island. He said Australia is the “security partner of choice” for the island.
“Let me assure you all again, there is no military base, nor any other military facility, or institutions in the agreement,” he told The Guardian. “And I think that's a very important point that we continue to reiterate to the family in the region.”
The U.S. announced earlier this year that it will reopen its embassy in the Solomon Islands, which was closed in 1993.
Washington also announced that it plans to open two new embassies there, one in Tonga and the other in Kiribati, to show its renewed commitment.
Vice President Kamala Harris addressed the Pacific Island Forum (PIF) in a video conference and said the U.S. did not always pay enough attention to these countries, which span the Eastern and Western hemispheres. But she promised that the U.S. plans to change that and will “significantly deepen our presence in the Pacific region.”
TREND FORECAST: The AUKUS deal, which includes selling Australia at least 8 nuclear submarines, is about enriching the military-industrial complex, and will do nothing to threaten China’s military superiority.
Indeed, only the factual blind would believe the “Five Eyes” which include the U.S., New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the U.K.—with combined populations of 466 million—would pose a real threat to the heavily armed 1.4 billion Chinese nation.
The Times of London reported that military officers from countries like Japan and Taiwan are learning from the Russian invasion of Ukraine and learning how a militarily inferior country could stand up to a more powerful neighbor. In this case China.
But that is pure military officer bullshit. The Ukraine War is just six months old. America and its NATO allies lost their 20 year Afghan War, the Iraq and Libya wars, etc.
One of the ways the Biden administration is selling its COLD WAR 2.0 strategy is by selling the bullshit that the U.S. is shoring up its defensive stance against Beijing by forming allies with Indo-Pacific nations such as the Philippines, Japan, Australia, India, and Vietnam.
China has rightfully accused the U.S. of forming a NATO-esque bloc for the Pacific in an effort to counter Beijing.
“The US professes a desire to advance regional cooperation, but in reality it’s stoking geopolitical rivalry,” he said.
“This is by no means some kind of blessing for the region but a sinister move to disrupt regional peace and stability,” Wang Yi, the Chinese foreign minister, said. “The perverse actions run counter to the common aspirations of the region for peace, development, co-operation and win-win outcomes. They’re doomed to fail.”
The Coast Guard ship would have been usefull in designating bogus 19 injections as contraband and ties to UNODOC the U.N office of Anti Drugs and Anti Corruption .
Quite right undermines peace as with League Of Nations and Japan. The way to counteract powerfully states such as U.S might be UNODOC and peace keeping of own citizens with in as wish for no foreign entanglements. As you have said yourself. A U.S citizen peace force
And same for Australia which contributed 8000 U.N peace keepers to the U.N. and further to counter W.H.O citizens could establish UNODOC offices in Australia but access to resources and being up against psychological warfare abd indoctrinated individuals is a problem.
Who would appropriate under article 27 of U.N Charter is a other the resources. As W.H.O. infrjnged on The U.N Charter and Nuremburgh Code on crimes against humanity. Yes I will spell Nuremburgh Nuremburgh.
